Help Save The Wolves

by Jon | June 27th, 2008

This is something I support very strongly.  Heck, my dog is 1/2 wolf ;-)   We need to put a stop to the ignorance that is threatening the wolves once again.  It wasn’t enough that we systematically wiped them out to the point of near extinction last century.  Let’s put a stop to this once and for all.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Once extinct in the wild, wolves in the Southwest are struggling to survive. Just 52 wild Southwest wolves remain, making them the most endangered wolves in the world.

But for years, New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce has led efforts to eliminate these very wolves from the wild. Now, he wants to be the state’s newest Senator — and gain even greater power in Washington.

We can’t let this wildlife villain win.

Donate now to help us go door to door in New Mexico and educate voters about Steve Pearce’s terrible voting record against wildlife and the habitat it needs to survive.

An overwhelming majority of New Mexicans — 7 out of 10 — support the recovery of highly endangered Southwest wolves.

But Rep. Steve Pearce has gone to extremes to eliminate these magnificent animals from the wild. He stooped to new lows last year, spreading lies and innuendo about Southwest wolves in a failed plan to kill recovery efforts for these struggling animals.

In a Congressional hearing, Rep. Pearce even went as far as to assert that “the most provocative thing to a wolf is a baby crying or laughing” an outrageous claim without a shred of truth or basis in fact.

Is this the kind of person that belongs in the U.S. Senate? Together, we can help ensure that this anti-wolf extremist won’t win.

Your secure, online contribution to Defenders Action Fund will support our grassroots outreach and public education campaign to win for our wolves — and defeat Steve Pearce — this fall.

Already, our campaign has knocked on the doors of more than 25,000 voters in New Mexico — and with your help we can reach our goal of 75,000 by summer’s end.

Please help us win this crucial campaign. Your support of…

$25 buys 60 door hangers to be posted in key precincts throughout the state.
$52 represents one dollar for every wild wolf left in the Southwest.
$75 pays for a canvasser’s shift to reach 80 voters in New Mexico.
$150 helps secure airtime for our hard-hitting TV ads.
Another Amount can help us win for Southwest wolves in November.

Two years ago, thousands of Defenders Action Fund supporters helped defeat Rep. Richard Pombo, the powerful chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee. It was one of the greatest victories for wildlife in decades and it sent shockwaves through Capitol Hill.

This year, you can help us do it again by defeating another wildlife villain.

Steve Pearce’s record is clear. He wants to eliminate the few remaining Southwest wolves in the wild — and he’s willing to go to extremes to do it. But it’s not just wolves threatened by Pearce’s antics: his dismal votes on conservation issues earned him a 0% on Defenders Action Fund’s Conservation Report Card.

Steve Pearce is wrong for New Mexico, wrong for our wildlife and wrong for the U.S. Senate.

With your help, we can expose the truth and stop Steve Pearce’s anti-wolf crusade.

HYIP/Ponzi schemes making a return?

by Jon | June 19th, 2008

So a new “twist” on the popular Ponzi scheme has surfaced recently.  It didn’t even have the creativity to come up with its own name.  It instead decided to piggyback on one of the more famous Ponzis of the last decade, 12DailyPro.

In case you missed it, 12DailyPro managed to scam a few MILLION dollars from people that thought they could legally earn up to 12% daily return on their “investment”.

My buddy Ryan Hogan just posted a great bit of information about HYIPs.  It’s definitely worth checking out.
What is a “HYIP” and Why You Should Avoid Them

Avoid these things like the plague.  Don’t listen to the lies they tell about how good an “investor” they are and what “legal” returns they can give you.  :|

What are your goals for your business? Are you holding yourself back?

by Jon | June 9th, 2008

I wanted to ask you a few questions today. I’m not trying to sell you on anything here. I truly want to understand where you’re at in your business and your plans for the future.

If you don’t mind taking 5 minutes to reply I want to figure out how I can help you reach your goals.

1. How long have you been marketing online?

2. Are you building your own list?

3. If yes, how big is your list currently?

4. What are your goals for your online business? (part time income, full time income, spending cash)

5. Have you hit your goal yet? If not, when do you see yourself hitting that goal?

6. Do you own your own website or are you only promoting affiliate programs?

7. What’s the first thing you can think of that would help you with your business?

8. If I could show you how to double your income in the next 90 days would you listen to what I had to say?

9. I’ve emailed you a couple of times about an offer that Mike Filsaime has for his 7 Figure Secrets package. Many of you didn’t take him up on this totally free offer. The only cost was $8 shipping for a physical product delivered to your door.

What I’m wondering is what kept you from grabbing this package?

Was it the continuity program that is sending you a full color magazine every month?

Was it the fear of the unknown from a “guru”?

Maybe you’re afraid of being “scammed” by the big bad successful guy. I don’t know…

To me the offer was a no brainer. I sent Mike my $8 faster than I could go get another beer LOL! I know that if I get 1 tip from the material I can easily add another 4-5 figures to my income this year.

I can tell you this, successful people take risks… those that are scared to get out of their comfort zone get nowhere in life….

Are you willing to listen to those that are successful and take your business to a new level?

I WANT to help you be successful online this year.

Will you let me?

Bye Brian’s Threaded Comments, Hello IntenseDebate!

by Jon | June 7th, 2008

I used to use Brian’s Threaded Comments here on my blog but it hasn’t been updated to work with the newer versions of Wordpress. I’ve been looking for something to replace it but hadn’t found anything…

… til today.

A buddy of mine is helping create this awesome new Comment Plugin called Intense Debate

Intense Debate lets your readers reply to other readers comments allowing logical conversations to develop on your blog. Gone are the days of having to sort thru the long list of comments to keep track of what’s being said.

Check out some of the great features that Intense Debate has and then let me know what you think by testing it out below

Tracking/Notifications

ImageInterested in the comments your friends make? What if there was a way to follow your friends and be notified when, where, and also what they comment? Intense Debate provides this functionality through RSS feeds for each user. Subscribers will be notified in their RSS readers with a direct link to view the context surrounding the comment as well. Give it a try!

Also, don’t waste anymore time checking back in on a blog to see if anyone responded to your comment. Now you can get email notifications of replies to your comments, letting you know when the conversation continues while you’re gone.

Structure

ImageThe Intense Debate comment system is built to enable conversation within the comment section. No longer do you have to try to follow the maze of conversations happening in the comments by means of “@ username” or “@ comment number”. With Intense Debate the comments are threaded, allowing you to reply directly to an individual comment. The replies are then indented at different levels to make it easier to follow the various conversations.

Profiles

ImageWith Intense Debate, a user can set up an avatar to be shown whenever they make a comment on every site we power. Also find out more about the other commenters around you. Every user has a menu button providing links to their blog(s), profiles on other websites, and rss feeds of their comments. It’s never been easier to connect with the other members of the conversation.

Reputation / Comment voting

ImageEach user also has a reputation attached to their identity that is displayed whenever they make a comment. The reputation value serves as a quick overview of a commenter’s history and is based upon the quantity and quality of the comments a user makes. We determine the quality of a person’s comments through comment voting, which also serves to move the best comments to the top. Find the best content right away and bypass the “muck”.

Social traffic drive

ImageWhen you make a comment on an Intense Debate comment system you are marketing yourself like no where else. We enable you to link to several major social sites you are a part of to give fellow readers an idea of who you are. You can also link back to your website, blog and your stream of RSS feeds. From a publisher standpoint, by allowing us to aggregate your comments Intense Debate can direct more traffic to your site, a high percentage of which is likely to participate in further commenting.

Widgets

ImageIntense Debate provides three widgets a user can place on their site along with our comment system. The first is a user’s recent comments widget which displays the comments of a given user across all Intense Debate enabled sites. The next is a widget that displays the most recent comments on a given blog or site. And the final widget we provide is a top commenter widget which displays the most active users on a given blog as well as the users’ avatars and reputations.

Gmail rolls out new features in Gmail Labs

by Jon | June 6th, 2008

Wow, Gmail has worked hard to stay my best friend when it comes to email. If you do any kind of safelist marketing you’re probably using it for all of your safelist emails since they tend to have the highest deliverability.

They are currently deploying Gmail Labs to all Gmail accounts. In the past when you wanted to add features or change stock settings (aside from what Google allowed you to) you had to install GreaseMonkey scripts.

For a while GreaseMonkey scripts were great but they aren’t always updated (to keep up with Google’s changes) so they will stop working altogether. I know this happened with a lot of my favorite Monkey scripts :(

To access the new Gmail Labs you need to click on Settings and look for LABS on the far right.
